CHARACTERName: Xion
Canon: Kingdom Hearts
Age: 15
Timeline: End of Kingdom Hearts: 358/2 Days
Items with character at canon point: Her keyblade
If playing another character from the same canon, how will you deal with this?:
I try to avoid that - I like my characters to be able to interact with others from their canon.
Personality: Xion started out as a blank slate. She literally was empty. She was passive and didn't engage in conversation with anyone. But when she began to go on missions with Roxas, she slowly started to change. The first full sentence she spoke was to him. Roxas began to take her to Twilight Town's clock tower to eat ice cream after their missions and as she learned more about his camaraderie with Axel (and then eventually met Axel himself) she begins to understand the concept of friendship. She questions whether she could be someone's friend and starts to care very deeply for both of them.
When Roxas fell into his deep sleep she visited him every day, telling him about her missions and one world in particular that she found to be very beautiful. She left a seashell on his bed for every day that she checked on him and was genuinely anxious for him to wake up. In addition to developing a bond with Roxas, she learns to joke with Axel as well, telling him that he's out of shape when he claims to need more rest than Roxas and Xion. They were the ones that rescued her when she couldn't summon her key blade - Axel came up with the plan and Roxas helped cover her missions - and also the ones that stood up for her whenever Saix would start to denigrate her. After being carried home by Axel, she overhears him telling Roxas that the two of them are his 'best' friends and the words make her very happy. Even with the memories of Sora still haunting her dreams, she's able to fall asleep with a smile on her face. It's not surprising considering all of that why they became the most important people in her small world.
Her faith in herself gets badly damaged after getting defeated by Riku. With more memories of Sora crowding in on her, she was already questioning her identity and because of her fumble with the key blade, she is unsure of her place in the Organization. This is compounded by Riku telling her that she couldn't 'fight fire with sparks' and calling her key blade a sham and worthless. This upsets her so much that she doesn't meet her friends at the clock tower and stays in her room, depressed. She becomes uncertain about her future, doubting whether she'll be around to go on a vacation with her friends. She also confides to Roxas that she is having strange dreams and that she wakes up from them afraid. She mentions to Axel that it feels like she used to watch the sunset with someone else as well. All of these things make her anxiety about her identity grow. It eventually leads to a fight with Roxas, even though he tries to reassure her.
Xion is observant and not very easily deterred. Suspicious about the circumstances surrounding her birth, she hacks into the Organization's computer to learn what she can about Castle Oblivion and goes there to find answers. Axel follows her there and tells her that she can't just run off. This leads to a confrontation. She had come that far and there was no way she was turning back. She defiantly asks if she's going to be turned into a dusk if she doesn't leave and demands to know why Axel is in her dreams. When he tries to evade her questions, she runs past him and through the open doors where she believes her lost memories lie.
Xion is one of the most selfless and empathetic people in the story. Upon learning that she is the reason Sora remains asleep, she asks Riku if he hates her. Upon hearing his resigned response that he is simply sad, it seems to move her. Xion herself wants nothing more than to remain with her own friends forever, so it's easy to imagine what Riku must feel. Ultimately, she agonizes over the decision of what she should do, but when it becomes clear that Xemnas has no qualms about destroying Roxas if he can use her, she decides that going back to Sora is the right choice even if it means being erased from everyone's memories. She also tries to patch things up between her friends when Roxas is mad at Axel for using force against her. She points out that if he hadn't brought her back, they wouldn't even be having the conversation. She also tells Axel not to hold back when he confronts her. Most likely, she understands that her friend is operating under duress and that he has to do what he's told for the sake of his own survival.
Even fading away Xion wasn't thinking about herself. When a confused Roxas asks her if he was the one that put her in that state, she lies and tells him no. She also expresses relief that he'll be safe now. Her last request was for him to free all the hearts that she had helped to collect for Xemnas and reassures her friend that she's only going back to where she belongs.
Background: http://www.khwiki.com/xionAbilities: Xion can wield a key blade - but this ability has proved to be something that can come and go. Because her existence is very unstable and she is technically part of Roxas, the shared power disappears at times. But she is a very capable magic user. Before she learned she could summon a key blade, she fought by relying heavily on magic - simple spells like fire and blizzard. Her fighting style is similar to Sora. In her Final Limit, she summons four thin pillars of light to quickly move in straight paths to ends of the field, dealing heavy damage to any enemies in her path. This attack is similar to Roxas's although it trades strength for speed; being faster but weaker than Roxas's version.
Network/Actionspam Sample: [A confused and anxious voice can be heard through the device.]
I...where? [There's a momentary pause.] I'm not supposed to be here. I was supposed to return to him. I don't understand. What could have happened that stopped me from getting there? I was supposed to save Roxas. What does all of this mean?
The train won't take me back. And I've never seen this world before.
Prose Log Sample: When she awoke on the train, she had not been sure what to think. The last thing she remembered was the feeling of relief when she looked up into Roxas's face. Yes, relief. Because even as she was fading away, she knew that he would be safe now. Xemnas's plan would fail without her to use as a replacement for him. And it wasn't really the end was it? She'd live on through Sora.
So the last thing she had expected was to be stumbling after this strange, retreating train. "Wait!" she called out desperately. Of course there was no answer. She stumbled and sank to her knees. This wasn't Twilight Town. She had been there often enough with both her friends and Riku to know this world was different.
Biting her lip, she climbed to her feet. A determined spark shown in her eyes as she stood. It didn't matter what world she was in. It's not like she couldn't leave. She had to find Riku and tell him it didn't work. Between him and Namine, they would figure something out. She opened a dark corridor and stepped through it - only to be expelled rudely out of the other end and onto her face into the very same place she'd tried to leave.
From her sprawled position on the ground, she raised her head, blinking in confusion. That had never happened. Gritting her teeth, she stood up and tried again, only to get the same result.
"Why can't I leave?" she cried out in frustration. She buried her face in her hands, trying to remain calm. Did this mean she had failed to protect Roxas? Would Riku's friend sleep forever? The feeling she was getting was unpleasantly reminiscent of how she felt when she failed her missions. In this one thing, she had wanted to succeed. Not for herself, but for the people she would help.
I can't just give up. she thought, taking her face out of her hands and surveying her surroundings.
Someone here might have answers. She reached into her pocket. She had been meaning to go for one of the seashells she had collected but instead she was holding what looked like some kind of pocket watch. Brows crinkling, she turned it over in her hands. "When did I get this?"
